We are proud to be a supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We pledge to donate $25.00 for every new case received in the month of October which settles before the end of November 2013. Maimah Karmo, a 37 year old survivor, is dedicated to changing the young adult breast cancer landscape and seeks to impact the quality of care and lifestyle for young women affected by this disease. Tigerlily Foundation supports young women ages 15 – 40 before, during and after breast cancer through education, support, empowerment and advocacy.

  • About 70,000 adolescents and young adults (ages 15-39) are diagnosed with cancer each year in the United States. Learn about the most common cancers in young people.
  • Women ages 15 to 34 and 35 to 54 die more frequently from breast cancer than any other cancer.
  • In 2009, the American Cancer Society predicted more than 190,000 new cases of breast cancer in women. They estimated that roughly 18,600 of these women would be younger than 45. Compared to older women, young women generally face more aggressive cancers and lower survival rates.
  • According to the Center for Disease Control, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States. It is also one of the leading causes of cancer death among women of all races and Hispanic origin populations. In 2008, 210,203 women in the United States were diagnosed with breast cancer; and 40,589 women in the United States died from breast cancer.
